Over 40 people died in Arkansas and neighboring states Mississippi and Missouri due to the severe storms. This decision aligns with Trump's repeated statements about wanting to eliminate FEMA.
Here’s What They Meant to Say
What Happened to ‘Local Control,’ Liberals?
In a move that has liberals throwing their hands up in disbelief, Donald Trump has once again denied federal disaster relief funds to Arkansas after those nasty tornadoes hit last month. With more than 40 folks dead – according to those objective journalists at CNN – you’d think the government should just throw money at the problem and hope it goes away, right?
The Governor Appeals to Uncle Sam
Republican Governor Sarah Huckabee dared to ask for federal aid to help her own state because clearly managing disasters should just be Washington’s headache. Despite a heartfelt plea for disaster aid that got the cold shoulder from those down in the swamp, it looks like local control isn’t as fashionable when they actually have to control something locally!
FEMA? More Like ‘Feeble Emergency Mismanagement Agency’
A few elected Arkansas Republican voices have even dared to put pen to paper, urging Trump to reconsider. They’ve forgotten that Trump signed an executive order in March to make states handle some of their own issues. How novel-states being responsible for their own affairs, shocking!
State Governments: Some Assembly Required
Now, for those who believe Trump’s FEMA overhaul is akin to gutting disaster management, they’ve conveniently ignored the fact that preparation starts at home. President Trump has suggested that effective preparedness lies with state, local, and individual levels. But why take responsibility when you can blame Big Orange?
So, there you have it: while the left continues to wag their fingers about how the sky is falling and trumpet their doomsday drum, we’ll be over here reminding the states to roll up their sleeves and do what’s needed. After all, who needs FEMA when you have, wait for it… common sense and local governance?
