ICE is using advanced spyware to intercept encrypted messages to combat fentanyl trafficking, highlighting new tech in the fight against drug crime.

Here’s What They Meant to Say

ICE Goes High-Tech

So, ICE is now using spyware to catch bad guys. Shocking, right? Todd Lyons, the acting director, wrote a letter that outlines how ICE is using top-notch tech to combat fentanyl traffickers. But, of course, the left is in a tizzy over this. Apparently, using advanced tools to stop dangerous criminals is now a bad thing if it means intercepting encrypted messages. Who knew protecting the nation could be so controversial?

The letter, which NPR got their hands on, reveals how ICE’s Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) is employing these tools to disrupt foreign terrorist organizations. But instead of applauding the effort to tackle the fentanyl crisis, the left is more concerned about the privacy of criminals. Because, obviously, the rights of those trafficking deadly drugs should be our top priority.

Democrats’ Outrage

Democratic members of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform are clutching their pearls over ICE’s use of spyware. They sent a letter back in October, worried about the agency’s potential use of this terrifying technology called Graphite. It’s almost like they want to make sure criminals have a safe space to operate without fear of getting caught.

Graphite, developed by Paragon Solutions, uses ‘zero click’ technology to access encrypted messages. But heaven forbid we use such tools to stop drug traffickers. The Democrats are losing sleep over who might be targeted, instead of focusing on the real issue: stopping the flow of fentanyl into our communities. It’s almost as if they care more about protecting criminals than protecting Americans.

Privacy Concerns? Please.

Civil liberties advocates are in a frenzy, worried that ICE might use this spyware for more than just catching drug lords. But let’s be honest, if you’re not breaking the law, what do you have to worry about? The left loves to cry about privacy while ignoring the real threat posed by criminals exploiting digital platforms.

ICE’s use of Graphite is perfectly legal and aligns with constitutional requirements. But that doesn’t stop the left from screaming about potential overreach. It’s almost like they forgot that the government has a duty to protect its citizens. Maybe they should focus on the real threats, like the criminals ICE is trying to catch, instead of inventing imaginary ones.

The Bigger Picture

The left’s outrage over ICE’s use of spyware is just another example of their misplaced priorities. They’re more concerned about the privacy of criminals than the safety of American citizens. It’s time to stop coddling lawbreakers and start supporting efforts to keep our country safe.

While civil liberties advocates fret over potential abuse, the real issue is the threat posed by drug traffickers and terrorists. ICE is doing its job by using advanced technology to combat these threats. Maybe it’s time for the left to stop whining and start supporting efforts to protect the nation. After all, isn’t that what government is supposed to do?
